Terms of Service

Last updated 16 October 2026

These terms apply to your Schreibmaschine account and to the Schreibmaschine app for Mac. Schreibmaschine is offered by Tobias Riemenschneider.

Your account

Schreibmaschine is free. You need an account to download it. Give a real email address, keep your sign-in details to yourself, and use one account per person. I may suspend accounts that are used to abuse the service.

Using the app

You may install Schreibmaschine on your own Macs and use it for anything, personal or commercial. Please don't resell or redistribute the app itself; point people to this website instead.

Your notes are yours

Everything you write stays yours. Schreibmaschine saves it as plain Markdown files on your Mac, and I claim no rights to it.

No guarantees

Schreibmaschine is free and provided as it is. I work to keep it reliable, but I can't promise it is free of bugs or always available, and I may change or discontinue it. Keep backups of notes that matter to you.

Ending

You can delete your account any time in your settings. Your notes stay on your Mac either way.
